2006 Breeders' Cup championships will be shown at Fraser
Downs & Hastings
For the first time in 22 years, the
Breeders¹ Cup World Championships will not be broadcast in
Canada on network television.
ESPN has secured the rights to televise the Nov. 4
races from Churchill Downs in the United States but ESPN¹s
carrier in Canada - TSN - has a previous programming
commitment so only HPItv and TSN High Definition channel
will carry the eight-race card from Louisville, Kentucky.
Both Hastings Racecourse and Fraser Downs will be showing
live simulcast coverage of the most popular thoroughbred
race day of the year as well as the race books at River Rock
and Boulevard casinos. The regular TBC Teletheatre outlets
throughout British Columbia will also be carrying the races
through the Churchill Downs decoders.
As a courtesy to our local patrons, it is advised that you
check with your cable
or satellite service provider to determine the availability
and pricing of HPItv and HPItv International. To receive TSN
High Definition, a customers must have an HD capable
television set with an HD cable box or satellite receiver.
The option is to spend the day at Fraser Downs, Hastings or
the racing books mentioned earlier. The Breeders¹ Cup
program (Vancouver time) begins with the Juvenile Fillies at
9:30 a.m.; the Juvenile (colts and geldings) at 10:10 a.m.;
