Once you've selected a horse, you must decide which
type of bet to make. The basic bets are:
Win |
You collect on a Win bet only if
your horse finishes first. |
Place |
You collect if your horse finishes
first or second. |
Show |
You're a winner if your horse is
among the first three finishers. |
You can make Win, Place and Show bets on every race.
There are also "feature" bets available,
at least one on each race. Payoffs on these special
bets can range into the hundreds, sometimes even thousands
of dollars - for a $2 investment. Feature bets available
at Fraser Downs include:
Daily Double |
You bet that your choices in the
1 st and 2nd races of the day will both finish
first. The bet must be placed before the start
of the first of the two Daily Double races. If
you choose more than one horse in one or both
races you may make a $1.00 wager and win half
the payout listed on the tote board. To calculate
the cost of your wager, multiply the number of
horses selected in the first race, times the number
of horses selected in the second race. That's
your wager. |
Exactor |
You select two horses in the same race and
you collect if they finish first and second,
in the order that you specified. If you choose
to box three or more horses, your ticket is
a winner if any two of your selections finish
first or second.

Win 4 |
You bet that your choices in four consecutive
races will finish first. The bet must be placed
before the start of the first of the four races.
If you choose one horse in each race, your ticket
will cost $1.00. If you choose more than one
horse in some or all four races, calculate the
cost of your wager by multiplying the number
of horses selected in the first race, times
the number of horses selected in the second
race, times the number of horses selected in
the third race, times the number of horses selected
in the fourth race.

The minimum cost of any single bet is $2 but when
you make multiple "feature" bets, the cost
can be as little as $1 per combination. For example,
you can make a $1 Triactor "box" bet combining
three horses in all possible combinations - there
are six possibilities - for $6.
